School doors will open at 7:45 AM. Students will remain in the Commons and the Gym until 8:15 AM. At that time, students will go to their assigned Zero Period classes until the 1st Block bell rings.

*No tardy bell will ring for zero period because students are not expected in school until 8:45 AM.

TARDY POLICY

Students should make every effort to be punctual by reporting to school on time. You are tardy if you arrive after the 8:45 A.M. bell. The following are considered excused tardy:

  • The school bus is late to school;

  • Bonafide medical appointments (doctor’s note required);

  • Other reasons approved by an administrator (i.e. auto accident, etc.).

Students arriving late to school between 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. must report to the Tardy Table assigned to their 1st block classroom.

Students arriving late to school after 9:00 a.m. must report to the attendance office to check in.

Students who are tardy to school and/or any of their assigned classes are subject to the student discipline code of conduct which may result in, in school intervention and/or out of school suspension. Parents may be called to come in for a conference with the academic principal in the case of excessive tardies.

Progressive Tardy Discipline All Tardies should be addressed and documented by the designee(s). The following progressive discipline will be administered:

Tardies 1-4: Warning

  • Parent contact through Student Conductor Tardy System

Tardy 5:

  • Parent contact via Student Conductor Tardy System

  • Counselor Parent/Guardian Contact

  • The Attendance Clerk will send a copy of the following letters to the parent(s) and refer the child and parent(s) to the school counselor.

  • “Compulsory School Attendance Law” Principal’s Letter

  • Referred to MTSS Tier II for Attendance

Tardies 6-7:

  • Parent contact via Student Conductor Tardy System

  • Counselor/Teacher Intervention via PBIS “Check In / Check Out”

  • Lunch Detention Tardy

Tardy 8: Mandatory Parent/Administrator meeting

Tardies 9-10: Mandatory Detention (Before and/or After School)

  • Parent contact via Student Conductor Tardy System

  • Monday - Thursday (Assigned by Administrator)

  • Missed Detention = 1 day of OSS per absence

  • Students reaching 10 tardies will be referred to MTSS Tier III

  • Counselor Parent/Guardian Contact

Tardies 11-12: ISI - 1 Day per tardy

  • Parent contact via Student Conductor Tardy System

  • Chronic Discipline Process is initiated.

  • Banned from extracurricular activities, pep rallies and celebrations until consistent practices are established.

Tardy 13+: OSS - 1 Day per tardy

  • Parent contact via Student Conductor Tardy System

  • Attendance Task Force Implemented

  • Social Worker, Truancy Officer
