Earning Credit through Demonstrated Competency (Testing Out)

The Georgia Board of Education recently approved a rule allowing eligible students to earn high school credit by “testing out”. During the 2013-14 school year, Griffin Spalding County Schools awarded units of high school credit to students in two ways, as required by State Board of Education Rule 160-5-1-.15.

1.    A student may earn course credit by earning a final course grade of 70 or higher.

2 . Prior to enrolling in a course with an associated Georgia Milestones End of Course (EOC), a student may earn course credit by taking the EOCT and achieving the “Exceeds Expectations” level (a scale score of 450 or above) on the exam. This method of earning course credit is referred to as “testing out.”

If you are interested, please read the following document for further information on how testing out works and the requirements needed.
