Healthcare Science Students visit the CDC

On November 6th, 2012 a total of 40 Healthcare Science students had an opportunity to visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA. The group went on a tour entitled The Story of the CDC which traces the origins and early history of the CDC through it’s expansion into an agency of public health programs emphasizing prevention. Highlights of the tour included an iron lung and water jars used in different parts of the world in an effort to ensure proper drinking water. Students also had an opportunity to try on bio-hazard suites that are utilized by disease detectives when they go out to investigate outbreaks.
