Pennies for Patients

The Freshmen Academy of Griffin High School just completed a three week service learning project to raise money for the Pennies for Patients program. The initiative is an effort to raise awareness, education, and motivation about The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This organization funds blood cancer research and provides education and patient services for finding a cure for diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s, and myeloma. GHS program coordinator, Sharon Adams, says that she was pleased with how the Freshmen class showed their enthusiasm and raised a total of $355.32 for the campaign. The class raising the most funds was Mr. Rice’s first period class with a total of $120.32. The Pennies for Patients pennant will hang above their class for the remainder of the School Year.
